Yes. Creating an account is completely free for both baristas and employers. There are optional paid features — the Verified Badge (R99 once-off) and CV Builder (R49 once-off) — but the core platform is free to use.

The Shift Board is where employers post urgent and upcoming shifts they need filled — today, tomorrow or next week. Once your profile is complete, you can browse available shifts in your city and apply with one click. Urgent shifts (within 48 hours) are highlighted so you never miss a last-minute opportunity.
The CV Builder generates a beautifully formatted, print-ready professional barista CV directly from your Barista On Call profile. It includes your photo, skills, certifications, experience, employer ratings, hourly rate, location and your Verified Badge if applicable. After working with you, employers rate you across four categories — Interpersonal Skills, Customer Service, Technical Skills and Theoretical Knowledge. Your ratings are displayed on your profile and build your professional reputation on the platform. Higher-rated baristas appear first in employer searches. Your ratings also appear on your generated CV.
Yes. Toggle your availability on or off at any time from your profile. When off, you are hidden from employer searches and the Shift Board until you are ready again. You will still receive messages from employers who have already connected with you.
Register as an employer, complete your business profile and submit it for admin review. Once approved — usually within 24 hours — you have full access to browse, filter, shortlist and message all available vetted baristas on the platform.
The Shift Board lets you post an urgent or upcoming shift — date, time, hourly rate, location, dress code, equipment and experience required. Baristas in your city see it and apply directly. You review applicants, view their full profiles and accept the right person. Each post costs R99 and goes live within 2 hours of payment confirmation. It is the fastest way to fill a last-minute gap.

We verify every employer before granting access to barista profiles. This protects the baristas on our platform and ensures they are only visible to legitimate businesses. Yes. Filter baristas by name, location, skills, availability type (full-time, part-time, freelance, contract) and hourly rate range. Results are sorted by rating so the most highly reviewed baristas appear first. Verified baristas appear in a dedicated featured section at the very top of results.
Yes. Once approved, message any available barista directly through the platform's built-in messaging system. You can also shortlist baristas you are interested in, and use the Support section to contact the Barista On Call team for any hiring assistance.
